SHAZAM! Elon Musk's new car

It appears the first seriously amazing electric car has arrived. And with it, a wake up call has been made to other manufacturers to up there game or get out of the hell out of the way. What makes this car so amazing, you ask? Well, for starters, it's relatively affordable, priced in the mid-thirties. And secondly, it is poised to singlehandedly take the pain point out of driving a vehicle that says you care about the planet as much as being seen in the latest and greatest cool car.

No longer do you have to be a member of the Radio Battery Card Club, a subscriber to Popular Mechanics or a dyed-in-the-wool tree hugger to own an electric car. Tesla's new Model 3 has a cruising range of over 200 miles and charging stations are being placed all across the country that will allow you to get an 80% charge in half an hour's time. Translation: Freedom, in the true sense of the word can now be yours in an electric car.

Now the bad news. Everybody wants one, and evidently, current Tesla owners are being offered first dibs. So it's entirely possible you may not be able to get you mitts on one. If I were making a list of new cars I'd most want to own, this would definitely rate high on my list.

Maybe not quite as high as the 2017 Ford Focus RS, but that a different subject for a different day.
